Need help choosing a pizza steel
« on: October 21, 2021, 06:29:15 AM »
Hello!

I am looking to buy a pizza steel, and I found these two from a Swedish producer:

https://gourmetstal.se/product/gourmetstal-classic-paket/
https://gourmetstal.se/product/gourmetstal-norrland-paket/

The difference is only the surface treatment as the classic is very smooth, like polished while norrland has a bit of abrasive texture, like a mid-coarse sand paper.

The producer claims that norrland with it's abrasive texture is superior due to increased area of dissipation of heat.

What do you think? Are your steels solid/polished or abrasive/blasted? Can this abrasive make it hard to clean?

Thanks!

Mine is smooth. I doubt it makes a difference. I never clean mine as it doesn't get very dirty and heat cleans it. Dissipating heat seems like a selling point that makes no sense sense.

They cost quite similar (~$10-12 difference). I'm afraid that the one that is not smooth will be sticky and hard to clean.

By the way, when I say smooth surface, I mean glass-like smooth

Is it same smooth for you?
