Malnati's Italian Beef Deep Dish

Read about this in the Washington Post of all places. What say you Chicago natives?

Looks like a layers of cheese/the beef/peppers topped with tomatoes eh. Looks tasty to me.

Iíve had Italian beef on a Vito & Nickís and didnít dig it all that much.  Kinda dry.  Maybe it would work better in a casserole.  JMHO, but Iím not a fan of stunt pizzas like that. I appreciate the creative novelty but Iíd take a classic pie over a Mac n cheese with kimchi pie any day.

I like the combination, because giardiniera just tastes good on a pizza (and everything). I've had Vito & Nick's version of this combo many years ago when a coworker brought it into the place I was working at the time. Thought it was great, but yeah, it's a bit intense and can be dry for some because of how they always bake their pizzas super well done. Not a problem if you're drinking at the same time.  ;D

Malnati's came out with their version of this combo last year, and just started promoting it again because they made it available for their mail-order biz.
It's good, but yes... a novelty.

Does that come with a side of Marconi sport peppers?

Only if you order a Chicago Style Hot Dog with sport peppers.  Of course only with a poppy seed steamed bun, chopped onion, tomato, mustard ( yellow), Vienna Chicago Style relish and a dash of celery salt. Only then can you order sport peppers on top.

Nah, think I'll jus stick with the beloved Chicago Italian Beef sandwich..."wet" wit extra sports.       Isn't your hot dog supposed to have a slice of pickle spear?   ;D

To me, adding Italian beef on top like that just serves to dry out the meat. If you put it under the cheese youíd have something potentially.

on top you wouldn't add it until the end as a topper, IMO.  same as you might do with fresh basil on a neapolitan.  it's already cooked, so not much point in cooking it again.
