There is this new place in Kent, WA that is called Pizzeria Fondi.  It is a new concept from RUI.  This is the group that owns Kincaids, Palomino, etc......  This is the best pizza in the country especially if you like neapolitan pie.  They are planning to open more pizzerias soon.  They were written up in  the wall street journal as being the hot spot for pizza in Seattle and also in Restaurant National News.  I have eaten at Totonnos, Lombardis, Biancos, and this is the best so far.  Check it out for yourself and FONDI.com

Here's a couple:

Pappa's Pizza:  Various locations in FL and possibly elsewhere.  I've been multiple times to two places in Gulf Breeze (Pensacola).

Larry's Pizza:  A few places around Central Arkansas.

My all-time favorite is (was) 70's-era Shakey's Pizza Parlor.  I've been working on that recipe for years and I'll post it on that thread soon.  My sauce is pretty close, but the crust is off and on.  I can't find a point of consistency with it.  The sauce is about the aging.

I've just recenty discovered this jem....

Just 15 mins from Philly or 10 mins from exit 3 of the NJ Turnpike.

Alfred's Tomato Pie, Blackhorse Pike, Blackwood, NJ.

The best tasting pizza that I've ever experienced.  If I ever made a pizza
at home this good, I'd stop experimenting immediately and forever eat this one pizza
for the rest of my life.  It's that good!

Alfred's offers just 2 kinds of pizza.  Red or White.  The "original" is the red with a little cheese and if you want other toppings, there are a few to choose from.  Same goes for the white, but a real treat is the White Clam.  That is really something special!  There is nothing else on the menu, just the pizza.  They are huge too!  17 inch pies!  His pies have the best tasting sauce that I've ever tasted, just amazing.  The only strange part of the whole deal is that he doesn't have a wood or coal oven... I would have never thought that something that good could be made with anything but wood or coal, but.... I stand corrected!

Not that I tried anywhere close to every place, but their pizza is amazing. They somehow put breadcrumbs into the crust in a way that you taste this crunchy, kind of seedy texture in the crust. I can't figure out how they do it.

Yes Shakey's!  Growing up in South Florida, Shakey's was everywhere and if I remember--it was 'off the hook' for those days, back in the late 60's and the entire 70's.

I was in Oberlin a couple years ago when my daughter was applying; I hadn't yet made the connection to Larry, so we had Chinese.

Would have never pegged Larry as a cooked sauce guy. Would love to hear more about that.
