I'm in the market for a new to me mixer. I was thining about going spiral, but keep seeing good deals on 140 qt (V1401) hobart mixers in my area. Does anyone have any feedback on those machines? Looks like a real pain to get the hook out of the dough with the bowl lowered.  I know they make the tall boys to alleviate that...Anyone have any experience here? Otherwise i got room on the floor for it and my electric panel can accommodate it. We currently use a 60qt hobart and on busy days we make dough basically all day. We would like to get down to making dough 2 or 3 times a day. Would be a real time saver...

Thank you!

I work with one all the time for years now. The thing is as strong as an ox! It can mix anything we throw at it. Yeah the dough hook can be a pain to get off sometimes, and it weighs about #25. You get used to it. The oil seal has gone bad a couple times and it's a big operation to get it fixed.

On a side note we just got a bowl lift that can lift the bowl well over waist high and place it on a table, or tip and pour. What a Godsend!!! Just wish we had got something like it 20 years ago.
It's an Earth food. They are called Swedish meatballs. It's a strange thing, but every sentient race has its own version of these Swedish meatballs! I suspect it's one of those great universal mysteries which will either never be explained, or which would drive you mad if you ever learned the truth.

I've used one for over thirty years now, and even though they are almost indestructible the issue now becomes repair for it.  Since most of the big stores no longer make their own dough, there are fewer and fewer service people for the machine.  At least this is what we experience in our part of the company.  Make sure you will be Abe to get good service for it.  As for day to day operations.....excellent machine and not that hard to work with.

It is custom made. And seems really well built. If at some point you get interested in one, Just ask and I'll see if I can get you hooked up. :)
