Star Tavern and Pizza Town in NJ, what else nearby?
« on: August 18, 2022, 01:55:03 PM »
Hi all, I've just realized that both of these places are within a few minutes of Newark. I have a day trip to the area coming up in a couple weeks and thought I would try to make it to both. Is there anything else, pizza or otherwise, in the area that you'd suggest? Thanks!

5 minutes from Star is Reservoir Pizzeria in South Orange.  I grew up in South Orange and it has been around a long time.   Haven't been there in 10 years, but hear it is still solid and IMO both are better than pizza town.   Also try Town Hall Deli in South Orange.  It is famous for their Sloppy Joe- not hamburger helper but a 3 bread layered top notch sandwich.  My brother and I both worked there.  If Jack is there, about 91 now, tell him Mrs Gloshinski, Walter, and Dave, say hi.  You can park and walk to both. Libretti's Italian Restaurant in Orange is an old school NJ wise guy place. You use to have to wear a suit to get in.  I don't know if they still require that.

Be careful in Newark.  I grew up there and it is still real dangerous if you get off the tourist route.

I guy wore a suit to a meeting at my office the other day. I told him to get out   :-D

I only wear mine at funerals.  I just need to remember to remove the moth balls.
