7/11, Stanislaus problems?

Within the last few months I've noticed 7/11 and even Alta Cucina and Saporito have been very inconsistent. Some cans are their normal bright, tart selves. Other cans have very little flavor and almost taste like V8 (yuck)

I contacted Stanislaus about this and they were very accommodating. Sent me several free cases and ran some testing. In the end, they couldnt find anything wrong.

Ended up switching to Tomato Magic in hopes it was just the 7/11, and while a few can yielded the flavor I've come to love, I'm still getting cans that are very dull. This is super frustrating for me because I can't find another tomato that has the same brightness that Stanislaus does.

Anyone maybe encounter this recently?

Might just be a bad year for tomatoes where they were sourced - since they are agricultural products they can differ from year to year and season to season. Do they have date codes on them?

I would imagine they are very closely monitored during canning and checked for things like sugar, acid levels, viscosity, temperature and contaminates -- I guess another possible problem could be someone making a mistake during production - or some computer program update(s) introducing unexpected issues, possibly defect(s) with the can lining - all just guesses on my part - hope you get it sorted out....

Last summer was one of the best for the Central Valley, not sure when the tomato's for these cans are grown.  Are they year round in green houses?

All of the Stanislaus tomatoes are grown immediately around Modesto, California with but a single harvest for their entire yearly inventory. I had the honor of being invited to view their tomato harvest and processing a few years ago, it's quite an operation. Between gearing up, for the harvest, processing, and sanitation they then shut down the entire processing facility for maintenance and up-grading which takes about 3-months bringing them right back to the cusp of the next harvest.
