Any major differences between original Pizzeria Uno dough recipe and Malnati's?

I have never had a Malnati's pizza but I had original Pizzeria Uno pizza's many times in the 80's and they are what made me love deep dish pizza so much. When I make any of the Malnati clones from this forum, they all taste great but they don't necessarily taste like the Uno's pizzas I remember. For those that have had both, is or was there a big difference or are they closer to each other than different. Also, is there a good Uno's clone recipe on here or are the Malnati dough recipes basically the same as Uno's?

I don't think they are close at all.  Malnati's is saturated with heavy oil percentages, flakey and light isn't part of the texture (maybe the very edge to a degree).  Uno's I've had (not the downtown Chicago location) had a far lower oil percentage and more sugar so it's lighter and sweeter.  Been to a few of them but that's about it.

For clarification, the Uno's Chicago Grill pizzas are worlds different from the ones from the original Pizzeria Uno and Due locations (unless that has changed in the last few years).

Yes. I'm not talking about the Uno's Chicago Grill pizzas. The Uno's that they opened in Denver in the early 80's was a "Pizzeria Uno". Since I've never been to Chicago, I don't know if it was exactly like the Chicago Pizzeria Uno but I know it was way better than the Uno's Chicago Grills they opened in Denver in the 90's. I also had the "Pizzeria Uno" in San Francisco in 1986 and Honolulu Hawaii in 1987 (while on vacation) and they tasted like the 80's Denver Pizzeria Uno.

My brother took a class at Pizzeria Uno Chicago location, the original, about 30-35yrs  ago. As parting gifts he received a seasoned deep dish pan and a print out of the original recipe, it was spot on. As of a couple of years ago, he still went to Unos to buy seasoned/used pans as his family grew. It will take at several days but I will dig out the recipe, I’m certain one of us still has an abused copy of it.
