Wood Stove?

Has anyone cooked pizza in a wood stove?

I did once for kicks. It wasn't good. The pizza was way too smokey and cooked completely uneven with the setup I had.

If you could biuls a box then use a stone on top to control the heat and not have direct flame it should work.

The grate is removable. I was thinking fire on left and right and pizza stone in middle, possibly elevated. Something like this:

Dough:
18oz active San Francisco sourdough
3 cups bread flour
1 cup water
handful of dried oregano
some fresh sage
3 cloves garlic
a shake of berber spice mix

Put in bread machine on dough setting.
Add the following partway through kneading:

1/2# cooked ground bison
1 cup chopped assorted mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Put in pizza pan,  refrigerate overnight.

Cook the crust to internal temperature of 140F

Add the sauce (tomato puree, oregano, garlic, port wine)
Add the cheese
Add the toppings (sliced bell peppers, pepperoni)
Add a bit more cheese

Cook to internal temperature of 190F

Rainy, windy, and branchy outside, power flickering, so we huddled around the wood stove and made pizza.

Tonight's wood stove pizza, deepdish sourdough stuffed with ground lamb, shitake mushrooms, and chopped pecans, topped with tomato & port wine sauce, mozzerella, cheddar, and pepperoni.
