Saputo floor advice needed
« on: October 25, 2018, 06:04:39 PM »
Hi,

I am just finishing a brick oven build and am about to add Saputo tiles over the existing floor. I purchased the Saputo tiles from Simon at Pizza Party and am looking for advice on how to install them. By searching, I have found that others have left their tiles floating. Is this the best option or should I use refractory mortar to bond them to the existing firebrick floor?  I appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

Steve

Don't bond them. If they need leveling you can bed them in a dry mix of sand and fireclay, but they look good now.  :)

I hope you're going to add something (firebrick splits, stainless) to protect the front edge...

Steve,

Thanks for the advice! I will leave the floor as is. I just ordered a piece of stainless flat stock and will install it along the front edge when it arrives.

Thanks,

Steve
