Just 3-4 inches of crushed stone under 4-5 inches of reinforced concrete.

I guess I never did post a photo of the oven with the trim painted, so here it is.

In what may appear to be a shameless attempt at self promotion I decided to post in my own thread to bump it out of page three, but actually, since there seems to be many new folks here looking for oven build info, I felt that my thread has something to offer, since I documented pretty much everything in pictures. Sure, there are other ways to build an oven, but this one has performed quite well for me so far.

If You want A oven that has a effective draw, and don't want to inhale lethal smoke while using it. You do need a vent and a chimney.

Funny Vent means bloke in Dutch :P

I haven't been around much lately and was surprised to find my thread on the first page.  8) I hope some of you are finding it useful in some way, or at least, entertaining. :)

I just read this thread start to finish for the first time. Fantastic job. Mad skills. On page 1 I was concerned about there not being any footings and being this far north, but it appears to have held up fine.

I take it you never plan to move  ;D

Yeah, it's not going anywhere, and neither am I! ;D
Actually though, I think there's enough crushed stone under it to keep it stable, and even if it did go a bit out of level, I don't think it would matter.

Did you have to get a building permit for it? I would here if I built something like that.
