I know it's sacrilege to make a pie like this. But, it's a bacon crust!

CDNpielover

^nothing sacrilegious about it at all, just ignore those self-appointed pizza police and enjoy what you enjoy.   :chef:

If it was still pizza season here, I'd be making a detroit or greek this weekend, but with bacon wrapped edges  >:D

I was just thinking the same thing......my next Detroit style is going to be bacon edged!!

Would you par cook the bacon before bake or go with uncooked? Would more pork fat mean a crispier crust??? ;D

I think i'd try to first wrap it and let the dough rise around it.  Then finish it off with cheese, which would be awesome if it melted/charred down along the edge too. Since bacon is cured, it should be OK to sit at room temperature for some hours during a pan rise (but maybe not, maybe someone else has more insight on that).

450 calories per slice???!!  Geez... And that hole structure looks terrible.

I've had Little Caesar's Detroit imitation a few times, and it's always like eating soft bread... No crisp/crunch on the edges, and no lightness/airiness in the dough.  I can't imagine the bacon would help fix the original problems...

That being said, I'll try it at some point anyway.   ;D

Yea I think it's fair to say Little Caesar's version is total crap.  I bet a homemade version would be killer though.

I could see 'wrapped' being soggy; how about a mix of cheddar and bacon crumbles down the sides of a good Detroit?

^where I live, there's only a couple of months/year where I can justify using my oven at maximum temp for over an hour... yes, I live in hell.  >:D

Or as they say it may not be hell, but you can sure see it from there.

I understand.

I tried it. Yea you don't get the crispy crust edge but I thought it was really good.

One thing that is strange about all the Little C around me. The one in the Kmart store closest to me is the best.  It's the only kmart store left in my area with a little C, the rest have there own buildings now.

Every other one I tried is not as good at all. Not sure why.

No thanks on the bacon crust.  I'd have to put Tums on my slice to tolerate that!   :-X
