"Top down" fire method
« on: February 18, 2020, 10:00:45 AM »
Been reading about this method. Has anyone tried it? supposed to decrease smoke and lead to less maintenance getting the bigger logs going. Anyone have any tips for lighting the fire?

I have found it does cut down on the smoke a little. I kiln dry a wheelbarrow full of wood withe the residual heat of the oven. The wood is really dry plus most of the bark peels off. But in cold weather I like starting a top down fire to heat up the oven a little more gradually.
