« on: June 05, 2017, 12:07:53 PM »
I used corn oil, I think I used too much in this recent seasoning and now its a bit sticky and slightly yellowy...

The steel is taken down to its bare metal, no millscale so it wasn't dark.  When I first got it I seasoned it just once and it worked fine.   I decided to season it again but maybe went a bit overboard this time with the oil I guess?

Its more of an amberish color like this pizza screen.

Nothing wrong with having a steel steel like that? I said sticky, it's more tacky.

My pizza screen was worse from using way too much oil when I first got it. But now it's has no tackiness at all and works fine..

Guess I'm worrying about nothing?  ???

Heat your oven up as high as it will go for a couple hours, and the tackiness will go away and it will turn dark.

Thanks

Here's a pic of my steel...

Wonder why it looks like that, the patterning..

Looks like dropplets and pools of oil.
Pizza is about balance, nothing more nothing less

Looks like dropplets and pools of oil.

Its darkened a lot more since that pic but has a pattern to it..

When I seasoned it I wiped it good with a kitchen towl  but it seemed to form little droplets like you say as if it were sweating while in the oven...

No stickiness at all so I guess it's no problem. I didn't notice much smoke either. I went for corn oil as it's meant to have slightly higher smoke point than my other oils.

The other side looks kind of like a leopard print..
