louie and ernie's, bronx ny
« on: November 20, 2017, 11:04:23 AM »
My wife had a tennis match last night in the throggs neck section of the Bronx, turns out louie and ernie's was about a ten-minute drive, nipped on over a slice during warmups. Really good slice from a pie that just came out of the oven. Very crisp and thin with some cornmeal on the bottom, flavorful sauce, delicious, light cheese.

I thought I was done but noticed sausage slices on every table. They didn't have any ready but the pizza maker showed me a bowl of what looked like freshly ground sausage (no casings) and offered to make me one. The sausage was delicious but ruined the harmony (and beauty) of the pizza.

I thought I was done but noticed calzone on a lot of the tables. Just kidding, but they looked great and I was tempted. The guys making the pizza were really nice and welcoming. Probably in my top 10 ny slices (though if I thought it about it, there's probably 30 places in my top 10).

I posted some photos in another thread, I'll try to post different ones here.

Cheese slice looks really nice. I'd like to try the sausage in a calzone

I tried Louie and Ernie's pizza a few years ago.
Its a good pizza, but not great.  They use a thin crust dough.

Of course.  And people in the know ( Bronx) know that the Sausage Slice is a killer.   Otherwise the Cheese Slice brings a flavor that remains a secret to this day

I don't think the cheese slice flavor profile is too far off of new park.

Fiorot,

New Park is a Brooklyn pizzeria. You can see an example of what their pizzas look like by clicking on the link in Normaís post at Reply 11 at:
