Excellent podcast episode on sourdough cultures

https://gastropod.com/secrets-of-sourdough/

It has inspired to perhaps capture some cultures from my locale. All of the ones I currently use were captured in Europe.

I'm only 6:47 in and I already want to strangle both the hosts.  It's the Serial of Sourdough.

And what's with the British pronunciations but no British accent??  Maybe I'd be better off with a transcript.

Had to road trip for work today so I listened to the rest of this podcast.  It was good and I enjoyed it and they definitely have that podcast "thing" down pat, which I'm not really sure how to describe in words, but you know it when you hear it and it either annoys or it doesn't.  Sort of like knowing NPR when you hear it.

I didn't expect vaginas to come up.

Then you really don't want to google "vagina bread". You really don't.

Crap, that seems like a dare, but I think I agree with you that I don't want to google that.  I'm fine with either of them individually, but less so when put together.  This ain't peanut butter and chocolate we're talking about here.

Thanks for the link. I gave it a listen yesterday. Looks like there is some interesting research on the way. "Sounds like NPR" is a very good description of the fornat.

I subscribe to and really enjoy Gastropod but can't help thinking of SNL every time I listen to it.

I listen to a lot of podcasts while I walk the dog, workout, cook, drive, cleanup, etc. It didn't take long to train my brain to listen at 3x "smartspeed". One of the advantages, in addition to being able to enjoy a lot more shows, is that just about everything but the actual the content is filtered out at 3x, which is great for podcasts like this. Other podcasts where I do want more nuance is at 2x speed. Some that focus on dramatic readings or music are at 1x speed.

FWIW, here are the food-related podcasts I subscribe to:

Gastropod
The Sporkful
Cooking Issues
Burnt Toast
The Kitchen Sisters Present
You Are Not So SMart (not cooking, but usually has a cookie recipe at the end!)

This sounds like the same folks from this thread. I sent in a sample to them last year and was wondering what the status of their research was.

Fool me twice-
I listened to the podcast (odd commitment to over pronunciating the letter T)
I googled vagina bread (odd commitment to... uh, yeah)
