This setup supposedly makes a 5-minute pizza.  It's not earth-shattering, but does anyone have any thoughts as to how well it could work?

Saw an episode of good eats one time where Alton brown settled on the home made terra cotta smoker as the best option and turned out some pretty good looking barbecue on it. Surprisingly very good for heat retention, never tried it though.

Are you supposed to use this in the oven or over charcoal?  Itís a cool idea, but the height puts the top a bit far from the pizza.  Donít you think?

That's a good point.  It's higher than a regular BBQ dome

Given the unknown composition of the clay and their likely countries of origin, I'd be extremely leery of using a clay pot intended for use as a planter as a cooking implement.

I agree red clay is not free of lead and other elements making it not always food grade.
