I'd go for Sorbillo, 50 Kalo and da Michele in Naples.
-Heine. Mostly Neapolitan sourdough pizzas in an electric Effeuno P134H.

If you visit da Michele I would go to the location in Rome. Itís less busy and you wonít have to share a table. I think I saw on Instagram that sorbillo has or is about to open a location in Rome.

Da Michele also has a location in Florence. Best marinara pizza I ever had.

Bonci has two locations in Rome.  One is near the Vatican (and not far from Da Michele), the other in the Termini station.

other good Naples recommendations:

DiMatteo (Via Tribunali 94) - not far from Sorbillo in the historic center
http://www.pizzeriadimatteo.com/

Pizzeria Al 22
Via Pignasecca, 22 (near Via Toledo)
If you want more than pizza, I recommend going there

Make sure you go the the correct Sorbillo's (Gino e Toto Sorbillo / Via dei Tribunali, 32). One of his cousins is a few doors down. I'm sure it's fine, but some people think they are going to Gino's when they eat there.

While in Naples you must try Sfogliatelle. It's a flaky pastry filled with an orange scented mascarpone invented my nuns.. it's deadly delicious!

This is the place that invented it: Sfogliatelle Attanasio Walk right in and take a number, it moves fast. You will be rewarded!

In Rome, try to stay in the Trastevere area. It's really nice. There's a bunch of really great restaurants in this area and not so many tourists as other areas. We went to a pizzeria called "Dar Poeta" and it was pretty good for Neapolitan style in Rome, jugs of wine & good times. A place called "Bir & Fud" also does Neapolitan style and it's just around the corner. For more Roman style try "Ai Marmi" in the same area. I highly recommend "Bonci Pizzarium" by the Vatican. Expensive and crowded but a style to try and compare with.

Obviously +1 to all the pizza places mentioned. I'm going in July, can't wait!

Not sure how common Sfogliatelle are in your area but if you're craving some and need a fix, goldbelly.com has them through Ferrara (https://www.goldbelly.com/ferrara-bakery/20490-sfogliatella?search_id=766716). I love fresh sfogliatelle but only get them a few times a year when visiting New York or relatives come to visit us and bring some. My wife ordered some for me for Father's day last year and they were amazing. They come raw and frozen so you pop them in the oven to bake and it is identical to eating one fresh out of the oven in Ferrara (which you don't get often) minus the ambiance of course. I've never had them in Naples but my mother in law said they are just as good, better than some places in Naples and not as good as others.

It's the last one.  It's located in a facility with a children's museum.  If you look at the Yelp photos, i took most of them.

Thanks Jonas.  I will be in Tuscany in September but traveling thru Rome.  My wife will insist on a trip to St. Peter's.  Looks like da Michele is near there.

I know Tuscany is not really known for pizza.  I will be near Montepulciano.  Any recommendations for pizza in that area?

Unfortunately, no.  However, if you trek by Bagnovignoni, you have to go to Il Loggiato and order the cacio e pepe polenta with salsiccia with a bottle of their house red, Poderino Rosso.  That meal haunts my dreams...yes, polenta!!!

We did a LOT of wine tasting in Montepulciano and Montalcino.  If you want suggestions, let me know.

Wow!  Cacio e pepe polenta.  I've not had that!!   And yes!  Definitely up for suggestions on wine tasting.  Two years ago we went to Monte Mecurio which is a very small, organic vineyard.  It was recommended by a friend who owns an Italian deli with family in Montefollonico.   We would like to go to several more this trip.
