Hi All,

Will be going on vacation with the hubby for 2 weeks to San Francisco, CA, U.S.A.  Would appreciate pizza recommendations to try out.

Thank you.

Any of Tony's will be good.  We had excellent pizza here last summer: http://tonyspizzanapoletana.com

If you're into bread this is a must: https://www.tartinebakery.com/san-francisco/manufactory

Del Popolo is always my first choice when I'm in SF: http://www.delpopolosf.com

In addition to a normal restaurant, they also have a truck with a WFO which shows up in various locations in the city which you might look out for as well.

Hi ccgus,

Delpopolo did not disappoint. Pizza was amazing.  Pictures below (sorry couldn't take under the crust, crumb, etc.) as I just wanted to devour the pie.

ccgus,

Saw the Del Popolo truck in Hayes Valley, San Francisco.

Didn't get to eat a pie. So decided to check out another pizza place.

Went to Tony's Pizza Napoletana in Stockton Street.  Amazing. Super taste!

Why not get both? :)

I love that truck so much. Fun fact about the Stefano Ferrara pizza oven in there: it's not tiled or painted. I guess they saved a little bit of $ on it by skipping that step (and I've never heard of anyone else doing that, and I believe their stationary pizza oven is untiled as well (though not a SF)).

ccgus,

We had just eaten lunch and just so happen to see the Delpopolo truck outside.

Yes even in the restaurant the pizza oven is not tiled or painted! I actually thought they built it themselves.

I am a bit late to the party, but I'm surprised that nobody mentioned Golden Boy Pizza - yes, it's not Neapolitan style, but it sells by the slice and it's so tasty (it reminded me of pizza Spontini in Milan)

Another fun fact - the oven originally purchased for the truck is sitting in my garage  ;D  and is also not tiled or painted.

I haven't been there in a few years, but Longbridge Pizza in SF was real good and was started by a few pizza makers who previously worked at some of the more famous pizza joints in the city.

It's a hybrid pie, naturally leavened, coal oven bake times from an electric Cuppone. When I visited, their entire menu consisted of just 7 or 8 different pizzas, but I see they have done some expansion!

the proof is in the pizza

You should probably try the neapolitan pie places since SF known for bread
