New York Pizza Festival 2019
« on: June 28, 2019, 10:30:45 AM »
Is anyone planning to go? As luck had it, I was in NY while last year's event (first one) was happening. I went and tried a lot of pizza. Quite a few local places, a bunch of guys from Naples, and a few from around the country were there. Pretty cool event even though I didn't quite wrap my head around it while there. I'm planning this year's trip now and was wondering if anyone went last year or planning to go this year in October.

I was interested in attending but thought it might crazy crowded. How were the lines/crowds last year?

Went on Sunday (final day) and it was perfectly fine and manageable. The lines that seemed long and intimidating actually moved fast. I'll probably do the VIP ticket at least one day this year just to see how it is.

We used to purchase the VIP ticket for the big apple bbq fest, $100 provided access to fast(er) lines and $100 worth of bbq and merchandise. But they slowly decreased the amount of food and merchandise you could purchase with the  pass.

Seems like the VIP pass for the pizza fest is still fairly priced, just not sure my wife and I can eat 10 slices and consume five drinks. Well, I'm sure we could but pretty sure we don't want to  :)

still, thanks  for the heads up, if we're in ny, I'm gonna try to make  it one of the days. Maybe we can have a forum meetup!

Does this event typically sell out?

Last year was the first year. It's like a big block party/street fest so they don't have a set amount of tickets for attendees but the pizzaioli can only make the pizzas so fast. A certain vendor might run out and you'll have to wait for the next wave of pizzas to come out but for the most part they all kept up pretty well and lines moved quick.
