Tonight's "Lou" inspired pie.
« on: July 14, 2019, 06:43:59 PM »
Tonight's pizza was inspired by Malnati's signature pizza "The Lou". It turned out really well although next time I will add a bit more Spinach... I always forget how much it just disappears. For the crust I used Pythonic's recipe from the "Pythonic's Lou with butter flavored Crisco in the pan" thread. The sauce was straight Tomato Magic out of the can. Hadn't made a Deep Dish in a long time. This one hit the spot. It was a 14".

Did it have a good tomato sauce taste? No spices?
Thank you

For a sausage-less pizza, the Lou is a truly great combo.

Hey, Michiel, welcome to the Chicago Style forum!  Spacelooper said he used this recipe:

For the crust I used Pythonic's recipe from the "Pythonic's Lou with butter flavored Crisco in the pan" thread.

All of the Deep Dish recipes, or "formulations," can be found at the so-called sticky post near the top of the forum, in a thread called, "List of Deep Dish Formulations?"  If you go to that link, you will find the recipe called, "Pythonic's Lou with butter flavored Crisco in the pan", and right next to that, you will see a second link for "Peter's Dough Calculation" for that same recipe.

Hope this helps!
