Trying my hand at sourdough.

I am making my own sourdough starter to use as a preferment for my Pizza dough. I'm just wondering if anyone else on the boards makes their own. I'm following the procedure in the Culinary Institute of America's Book "The Professional Chef". I'm hoping it will go well.

I just started my first starter about a week ago.

How did you manage with your starter?
