Freezing SD starter and old dough
« on: October 26, 2019, 08:08:37 PM »
Can sourdough starter and old dough be frozen, thawed, and survive? I know keeping them in the fridge is the best option but I was wondering if they would still survive being in frozen/ stored long term.

I spread a thin layer on parchment paper and put it in the oven with the light on and door cracked open. After it was completely dry I vaccuum packed it and put it in the freezer. 3 years later I revived it just to see if I could. Only took a few feeding and jt was a live and well

I've froze a few dough balls and cooked them a couple months later. They were just ok but worked
