You bought your Grande at Wholefoods(Have no clue what they sold you}
Many of us buy Grande by the Case and 99% are happy(maybe some not because they pay more}
But have been using Grande since 2012 and never had bad cheese.....JT

I think they buy Grade by the case, mark it up and sell it in small blocks.  They used to sell Saputo but recently switched to Grande.  Here in Chicago, Grande isnt easy to find even at restaurant supply stores.  8.99/lb is criminal in my book but I bought a small amount to test as Ive always been curious about how Grande would perform in the home environment.

Im quite happy with Trader Joes mozzarella and Boars Head (when its on sale).  Will continue using those on my NY pies unless I can find Grande or Saputo in bulk somewhere.

Call Grande and tell them you are looking for a local distributor in your area.
Find out who is in your area is a cash and carry or just tell them you make pizzas in you nite club
when there are concerts if there are no cash and carry......JT

My local c&c has a house brand made by Saputo.  It's close to Grande, but not quite.  Why are they such dicks?  Farmers are dumping milk.  I've been making my own lately.  No social interaction besides saying hi to the girls in my neighbor's barn.

Assuming the "girls in my neighbor's barn" are bovine, I would hope there wasn't any social interaction beyond "saying hi"!  :-D

So I bought a small block of Grande from Whole Foods and wasnt terribly impressed by it.  I baked another pie side by side using Boars Head and the BH definitely tasted better.  Grande had great heat resistance but tasted bland.  On its own it was sourish, dunno whether my cheese was old or if thats what its supposed to taste like.
It performed similarly to Saputo but tasted worse.  Ill be sticking to my 4.99/lb Trader Joes WMLM mozzarella.

My local (Ann Arbor) WF had their sliced block mozzarella listed as Grande on the shelf sticker, but when I had them DOUBLE check, it was actually Saputo. BIG difference...
