Take it back....
$21 for a block of low moisture whole milk, New Haven Ct.
You bought your Grande at Wholefoods(Have no clue what they sold you}Many of us buy Grande by the Case and 99% are happy(maybe some not because they pay more}But have been using Grande since 2012 and never had bad cheese...……..JT
Call Grande and tell them you are looking for a local distributor in your area.Find out who is in your area is a cash and carry or just tell them you make pizzas in you nite clubwhen there are concerts if there are no cash and carry......JT
No social interaction besides saying hi to the girls in my neighbor's barn.
So I bought a small block of Grande from Whole Foods and wasn’t terribly impressed by it. I baked another pie side by side using Boar’s Head and the BH definitely tasted better. Grande had great heat resistance but tasted bland. On its own it was sourish, dunno whether my cheese was old or if that’s what it’s supposed to taste like.It performed similarly to Saputo but tasted worse. I’ll be sticking to my 4.99/lb Trader Joe’s WMLM mozzarella.
My local (Ann Arbor) WF had their sliced block mozzarella listed as Grande on the shelf sticker, but when I had them DOUBLE check, it was actually Saputo. BIG difference...
Block mozz in the deli may be the biggest rip-off in all of grocery. 400% markup is not unusual. Luckily, I have a Restaurant Depot not too far from my office. I've been getting pretty good mozz - not Grande - for $1.67/lb.
