Ooni pro bake with gas
« on: December 05, 2019, 11:20:50 PM »
I really think the ooni pro might be the best of the little ovens. It is very roomy inside. You can cook with multiple heat sources.  The use of a pizza door with gas keeps more heat inside. Which helps the floor to heat more  even front to back. The others do not capture the heat and loose a lot of it out of the front of the oven.
I like to keep my floor at 775 degrees and I get a nice 90 second pizza. Not sure how expensive they are but they work really well.

Larry,  I don't have one, but the size is right -  it says it can handle a 16 inch pie.  The kit with the gas burner, cover and peel, goes for $775

I know you are looking for a bigger oven. This might work for you. I think once you get the floor temp where you want it you could turn down the gas and get an extended bake time. Lots of room to place your pizza close or further from the flame. May be some holiday deals out there.

Double duty for the ooni pro. Practicing my NY stretch and the ability of the pro to cook at lower temperature. Member jersey pie boy asked me about the pros ability to cook a 4 to 6 minute pie. I feel confident it can do it easily. These were 5.5 minutes. You just need to follow a set routine. The nice thing about this oven is you can cook a 16 inch pizza.

Nice pies, and with the PP gas price increase i would say that oven is the most versatile, best bang for buck option right now in the $1k or less category.

Is there an announcement to this fact, or just based on their price increases ?

From PM with Simone...I was about to go with a gas Passione,  though the price increase and doubled shipping were giving me pause....it turned out to be a moot point

Wow!? That's too bad. Are they still going to support current owners ovens? I'm glad I got mine when I did, for as cheap as I did!

Kind of a shame, but the only way to sell this sort of item into the N. American market economically is to ship the ovens in quantity and distribute/ship them from within the country.  One-off international shipping costs are prohibitive for bulky and heavy and relatively inexpensive items; this is so if only because the shipping cost is based on "cubing," where the size of the box has a disproportionate effect on the shipping cost.

Any kind of appliance using flammable gas(es) has a liability associated with it and this is without end users modifying the things to make them more dangerous.  This has to be factored in as well.

It is also extremely difficult to support the end users from long distance and with language limitations.

Simone gave it his best shot and we should thank him for that.

I am glad I purchased mine when I did. In fact I plan on using it tonight for our small New Year’s Eve celebration.
