German style pizza

Does anyone know about making german style pizza (I'm thinking specifically of pizza's like Vapiano's, if anyone has had them)
I'm guessing its just the flour they use, but I am not sure what else might contribute. There was a Vapiano's near my house in Virginia and I assume they did not import water from Germany.

To note, other pizzas I've had in Germany (Aachen area at least) tasted similar.
