Double-oven: Top oven or bottom oven
« on: January 16, 2009, 11:40:46 PM »

I have a Maytag double oven electric range.  Anyone care to share experiences of whether it's better to go with the upper oven (smaller and preheats in half the time) or to go with the lower oven (bigger, so I presume it would retain heat better)?

I'm leaning towards using the upper oven for the following reasons:
- I would be using a pizza stone. Both upper or lower oven can preheat the stone to 550 degrees.
- Even if the upper oven loses heat more quickly than the lower oven due to its size, the built-up heat in the stone will take care of cooking the pizza.
- Since the upper oven heats up faster than the lower oven, this should be advantageous for cooking the pizza.

At least, that's what I think should occur in theory.  Any real-life experiences from people who've tried both and came to a real conclusion?
