Does anyone else add anchovies to their tomato based sauces?  I've been doing it for a while with some pasta sauces, soups and such.  Just one or two mushed up fillets cooked into the sauce give a tasty little addition, in my opinion.  My wife hates anchovies, she claims, good thing she doesn't know how many she's eaten over the years  :D

I've often thought about it, but always desist out of fear of causing a salt O.D.

Not only do anchovies add an unbelievably delicious flavor to tomato sauces...try flavoring your white sauce with it too.  DEEE LISH

Made a large batch of my 'usual sauce' last week and really wanted to add some depth, so went with an anchovy paste 'melted' into a bit of olive oil, and added that to my usual sauce.  Excellent layer of flavor, and it will become part of my new 'usual sauce'.
